Founded in 2006 to build what Dubai didn't yet have.
Dubai South is the UAE's most ambitious master-planned urban district: a 145 sq km free-zone city purpose-built around Al Maktoum International Airport — the world's largest airport under construction — integrating aviation, logistics, commerce, and residential living inside a single connected ecosystem. Established by decree of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, it is designed to house one million residents and generate millions of jobs as Dubai's economic centre of gravity shifts south.
The community encompasses eight distinct districts: Aviation, Logistics, Exhibition (home to Expo City Dubai, legacy of Expo 2020), Golf, Business Park, Residential, Humanitarian, and Commercial. The Residential District offers villa communities, townhouses, and apartments with lakes, parks, and schools, all designed to international urban-planning standards. The MBR Aerospace Hub co-locates airlines, MRO facilities, and aerospace innovation under one roof at Al Maktoum Airport’s doorstep. Over 7,500 companies are registered in the free zone, benefiting from 100% foreign ownership and zero corporate tax. With the airport’s ultimate capacity of 260 million passengers per year and direct metro connectivity planned, Dubai South is not merely a developer’s project — it is the physical infrastructure of Dubai’s Vision 2030 and beyond.
